Bike to Work Day 2013 This year marked the special "25th Anniversary" of Bike to Work Day in Fort Collins. From 6:30-9:30 AM, cyclists were served by 96 local businesses who sponsored 40 stations. Beantrees had the opportunity to team up with Advanced Micro Devices to represent "Station 2." Local Breweries hosted the afternoon stations which started at 3PM. WINTER Bike to Work Day 2012 Last December was the 6th annual Winter Bike to Work Day! FC Bikes and Bike Fort Collins co-hosted the event. It encourages residents to bike to work, even in the cold months. 20 stations, hosted by Fort Collins businesses, were situated throughout town and served up breakfast and beverages to cyclists on their morning commute. A couple of afternoon stations also hosted events to end the day. Visit www.fcgov.com/bicycling or Bike Fort Collins for more information.
TASTE 2012 More than 30 of the county's finest restaurants and nearly 20 of its finest wineries and breweries participate in THE TASTE, providing a uniquely memorable evening that highlights the best Larimer County has to offer in local food, wine, and beer. In addition to fabulous food and drink, the event features an exciting silent auction featuring local products, services, and artwork as well as live jazz entertainment from. The silent auction also features the popular Palette of Plates - an auction of special plates designed by local artists and Nests for Neighbors with specially designed bird houses.
Empty Bowls For the past 15 years, Empty Bowls Fort Collins ladles community hope in mid-February for those struggling with hunger in Larimer County. Working to increase awareness of hunger, the event is a major fundraiser for the Food Bank for Larimer County. The event offers guests the opportunity to select a pottery bowl made by students in the Poudre School District or by a local artist and enjoy signature soups provided by area restaurants. In addition to bowls made by students in the Poudre School District, many bowls are created by the artists of the City of Fort Collins’ Pottery Studio and the Northern Colorado Pottery Guild. These bowls are included as guest bowl selections and as silent auction items for bid.
"Thank you so much for participating again in Empty Bowls. The event generated $57,000 to support the Food Bank for Larimer County. The number of clients seeking food assistance has increased dramatically in the past year so we are especially grateful for your role in helping us respond to the demand." -Excerpt from a letter from Heather Hallett Thurstin (Restaurant Coordinator), March 3, 2009-
